A Changing Places facility enables people with disabilities to more easily participate in the community, providing them with dignity, safety, hygiene, access and inclusion.
Changing Places facilities provide:
- A height adjustable adult-sized change table.
- A constant charging ceiling track hoist system.
- A centrally located peninsula toilet.
- More circulation space than standard accessible toilets.
- An automatic door with a clear opening of 950mm at minimum.
- A privacy screen.
Residents wanting to use a Changing Places facility will require a Master Locksmiths Access Key (MLAK). This is a universal lock and key that allows people with disabilities to access dedicated public facilities 24 hours a day.
For more information on how to order a MLAK please visit masterlocksmiths.com.au/mlak/
Changing Places facilities are currently located at:
- Mackay Aquatic and Recreation Complex (only accessible during operating hours. No MLAK key required).
- Seaforth Esplanade.
- More to come.
