Comprising three tiered lagoons, the Bluewater Lagoon is a free family-friendly leisure facility overlooking the picturesque Pioneer River in the heart of Mackay's City Centre. A 1.9 metre fence surrounds the facility to provide a secure, safe environment. The softfall in the children’s play area and interactive play equipment was upgraded in late 2020.

This Works for Queensland project is delivering jobs for regional Queensland and was funded by the Queensland Government.

This long, centrally located park is along the Cross-City Link.  It has a partially enclosed, shaded playground for ages 5 to 9 with sand softfall.

This state-of-the-art facility includes a FINA approved 50m pool, a covered 25m pool, as well as a heated 15m programs pool. There is a state-of-the-art athletics track offering all events and disciplines.  There are also extensive outdoor grassed areas for family picnics and get-togethers.

Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens showcases the flora of the Central Queensland Coast Bioregion, a diverse area featuring lush tropical rainforests, wide sweeping beaches, mangrove lined waterways and open eucalypt forests. Flora, fauna and food are major features, with the Lagoon's Cafe and Gallery well worth a visit.  Children are not forgotten, with the fully fenced, shaded Under the Banyan Playgarden (with softfall), catering for ages 2 to 12, included just 900 metres from the Visitor Information Centre.

Famous for being home to the Mackay Society of Model Engineers Model Railway, this park has a great partially enclosed playground with sand softfall for ages 5 to 9.

Boasting one of the biggest and best playgrounds in the region (shaded, softfall and catering for ages 2 to 12), offering a custom-built 7.5metre skywalk towers that are nestled in the trees, a yarning circle, Orchid House along with plenty of open space and natural beauty.  Queens Park was revitalised in 2020 thanks to $8.8million in funding from the Queensland Government.

This freshly upgraded soft-fall playground features a combination play unit, rockers and a tornado swing. The swing has a 360 degree range of motion and is fitted with a basket style seat so it can be used by multiple users.

There is a large shade structure covering the  playground for all-year-round use. The park area also features a basketball half-court, picnic table and bubbler.

Right on the bank of the Pioneer River, this park has plenty of shade and seating and is perfect for those who enjoy watching the boats while eating lunch or for those resting after a run or ride on the Bluewater Trail.

This small suburban playground offers a soft-fall playground aimed at ages 2 - 9 years old, tucked away at the back of Souths Leagues Club. Access is via Dimmock Street.

It also has a bench seat to rest your legs, and large, shady trees in the nearby grassed area.
